Why This Reference Exists
Printed directories for Marina and the Monterey Peninsula no longer provide a complete current roll, yet the underlying records remain with different custodians. The Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder holds parcel and recorded-document indexes. Monterey County Elections controls voter-file access under California law. Superior Court keeps case records, while Monterey County Free Libraries and regional history rooms preserve directories, newspapers, maps, and photographs.
Marina's history makes the split especially important. The city incorporated in 1975, grew from Locke-Paddon's 1912 subdivision, and carries the former Fort Ord and CSUMB layers. A useful search therefore follows the record keeper and the period, rather than treating a Marina mailing line as proof that every office holds the same information.
What the Directory Maps
- Different search angles: the street directory follows address-keyed evidence, the city directory page handles historical shelves, and the resident lookup page controls a one-person search
- Named custodians: the Monterey County assessor, recorder, elections office, Superior Court, vital-records offices, Marina Community Development, and library/archive staff
- Practical routes: how an APN connects a map to a parcel file, how a court result becomes a case request, and how a household trail is paired with a directory or census
- Access boundaries: what California's CPRA can request, what voter, vital, court, and protected-address rules keep closed, and when a counter or appointment is the better route
Where the Boundaries Are
This is a privately operated reference, not a Marina office, Monterey County department, California agency, court, or library. It does not hold the records it describes. Important limits include:
- No page can confirm that a named person currently lives in Marina
- No record can be pulled, certified, amended, or removed here
- Only the responsible custodian can add or correct an entry in its roll
- General explanations are not legal advice about a dispute or filing
- Portals, fees, hours, and coverage details can change and should be checked with the office
Only the custodian can confirm, certify, or correct a record. Information reached through this reference is not for FCRA-regulated decisions.
